GSM phones at the early stage do not have IRdA or infra red connection capability. The Ericsson engineers created a Infra Red module that can be used to interface with T28, A2618s. At the beginning, the price this module is horrendous.. US85! . Nowadays infra red may not even be used to connect to laptop but bluetooth is used instead. I am sure a lot people do not know this item exist.
The plastic technology implemented is two type of materials is used or two substrate. In other words, during molding process, type type of materials are used at once. One is PC ABS and the other is transparent material for the Infra Red.
